Flying the Machine

We make theater for a disappearing world. We try to hold it in our palm. We make theater for the strange souls who like to frequent train stations and trivia night at their local dive bar. We make theater because we find life in the static, we burrow in the room tone. We make theater because we like to give a voice to the space between two bodies who are dancing on their own.

Founded by Zak Kerhoulas and Tiara Partsch, Flying the Machine is a movement and sound-based devising ensemble.

Who We Are

Ever since their first collaboration on Martin Crimp’s Attempts on her Life, as part of Rude Mechanicals 23-24 season, Zak and Tiara have been inseparable. Together, they have worked on a series of devised pieces, effectively developing new approaches to storytelling through movement and sound.

They are passionate about the ways in which technology both limits and broadens our collective imagination, and what our sounds have to say, when we listen. They believe the soul is in the throat– touch your skin and feel the vibration.
